The Independence Special Events Committee is holding its regular scheduled monthly meetings every 2nd Monday, 5:30pm at the Independence Fire Department. For more information email Carol Lundgren at: lundgren@ls.net

The Independence Revitalization Project application was submitted to DHCD  March 26th.  To view some of our efforts to date click on Downtown Project under Town Links to the left. Information is available for economic restructuring, vision assessment, artisan sketches of farmers market and street scape.  

A Special Town Council Meeting will be held Thursday, July 24th 2008, 7pm to take possible action on Fire Dept. debt at the Independence Fire Dept. located at 329 Davis Street. 

A Public Hearing will be held Tuesday, July 8th 2008, 6:45pm at the Independence Firehouse located at 329 Davis Street to take public comment on refinancing Independence Voluntary Fire Department debt.  

The Regular Scheduled Independence Town Council meeting will be Tuesday, July 8th, 7pm, at the Independence Vol. Fire Dept. located at 329 Davis St.  

The VA/NC Water Authority will hold a Special called meeting Monday, July 21st 2008, 9:30am at the Grayson National Bank Conference Center located at the west end of the Guynn Shopping Center, 558 East Main St., Independence for possible action on easement and property acquisitions.
