The Independence Special Events Committee is holding its regular scheduled monthly meetings every 2nd Monday, 5:30pm at the Independence Fire Department. For more information email Carol Lundgren at: lundgren@ls.net

The Planning Commission will hold a Special Called Meeting September 2nd, 2pm at the Independence Town Hall to consider a re-zoning application for property located at 431 E. Main St. and any other pending business.  

The Board of Zoning Appeals will hold a Special Called Meeting September 9th, 6:30pm at the Independence Vol. Fire Dept. located at 329 Davis St. to consider approval of previous Board minutes and Board Member terms. 

The Regular Scheduled Independence Town Council meeting will be Tuesday, September 9th, 7pm at the Independence Vol. Fire Dept. located at 329 Davis St.  

The VA/NC Water Authority will hold its regular scheduled meeting Thursday, September 11th 2008, 10am at the Grayson National Bank Conference Center located at the west end of the Guynn Shopping Center, 558 East Main St., Independence.

  Water bills due by 5pm on the 5th of each month.

  Water bill past due penalty accessed on the 6th day of each month.
