Second Public Hearing

Independence will hold a public hearing on at 5:50 PM at the Independence Volunteer Fire Department located at 329 Davis St. Independence VA to solicit public input on the proposed Community Development Block Grant (CDBG)Local Innovation Program proposal to be submitted to the Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) for the Independence Farmers Market Project.  Residents of the project are area encourage to attend. Project will include: farmers market, lighting, sidewalk improvements, and pedestrian connectivity.  

Project area information, maps, and cost estimates will be presented for comment along with information on projected beneficiaries, including Blight removal, the number of Low-to-Moderate income residents to benefit from the proposed project, and plans to minimize displacement.  Citizens will be giving the opportunity to comment on the Town’s past use of CDBG funds.  For additional information, contact Reid Walters 276- 773-3703.
